This page explains how each income stream is calculated.
Distribution
All income royalties are in Euros so we have to reverse calculate the exchange rate the bank used at the time to convert all lines into GBP. Once this is done we take 20% from the new total.
Publishing (PRS)
The royalties we receive on our statements need to be broken down into members who are registered with a performing rights organisation (PRS) and members who are not.
If a member is registered with a Performing Rights Organisation (PRO), the PRS for example, 80% of their royalties will have already been paid to them directly and Kycker's 20% cut will be part of the royalty amount we receive. For non PRO members the total amount is sent to Kycker which we then take 20% from.
In this example we have a track with the following writers splits...
Writer A (Member) (40%)
Writer B (Member) (30%)
Writer C (Non Member) (10%)
Writer D (Non Member) (10%)
Writer E (Non Member) (10%)
If the royalty on the statement is £500 the breakdown is as follows...
Writer A (Member) (£200) - £160 to PRS - £40 to kycker's bank
Writer B (Member) (£150) - £120 to PRS - £30 to kycker's bank
Writer C (Non Member) (£50) - £50 to kycker's bank
Writer D (Non Member) (£50) - £50 to kycker's bank
Writer E (Non Member) (£50) - £50 to kycker's bank
For Writer A and B 80% of thier splits will have already been sent to their individual portals which means the total royalty we receive for this is £220. Kycker receives it's 20% from the PRS members (£70) so that leaves £150 to process for the non members.
Kycker takes 20% from this cut which has not yet been calculated. leaving £120 to the artist.
£120 is what you will see on your statement.
MCPS
All income is paid in GBP however MCPS take a commission these royalties before they pay us so we have to calculate what was taken as this is not factored in the statements. For a list of commission types and their rates please see the link https://www.prsformusic.com/royalties/your-statement/mcps-commission-rates
Once this has been calculated we take 20% from the new total.
Neighbouring Rights
