What is a Waterfall Release?
A waterfall release is a music release strategy where an Album or EP is released gradually, with each new release adding a single track.
How do I make a Waterfall Release?
We have a really simple way to waterfall release music, it’s as easy as checking a box!
Firstly, input your full EP or Album into our system. You want to give yourself as much lead up as possible so that any changes can be made and you won't be cutting it short!
Release your First Track: in order to start a waterfall release you will need to input your first release into our system as a Single. Once this is done, you can start the waterfall process and add any new tracks to your existing one
Second Release: When you are doing your second (or any further) releases, you will need to put in all the required data in our fields (Just like you did for your first track) and then check the box at the top of the Track Information section ‘Choose previously released track’. From the dropdown menu select the track you want to include which should be your first single! If you want to keep waterfalling tracks just repeat this step!
Below is an example of what a Waterfall release should look like:
First Release Single 1: Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso
Second Release Single 2: Sabrina Carpenter - Please Please Please Single 1: Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso
Third Release Single 3: Sabrina Carpenter - Taste Single 2: Sabrina Carpenter - Please Please Please Single 1: Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso
The Waterfall at each stage should be packaged as a new product (all tracks together) to get maximum algorithmic impact
For example, when you’re on your third release of an EP or album, you want to add the previous 2 releases to it
To add another ‘previously released’ track to package your release as a 3 track release, simply select ‘add new track’ and use the same checkbox and selection process as above
Repeat this as many times as you need to waterfall release your EP or album
