When uploading your music to KYCKER you will be asked to select your version for each track. The version field put simply is the version or type of release. The following options are available:
Original Recording
Instrumental
Radio
Extended
Demo
Live
Remastered
Remix
What does each version field mean?
Original Recording
The primary, definitive studio version of the song as first released. This is the baseline everything else is compared to.
Instrumental
The track without lead vocals (sometimes backing vocals too).
Radio
A radio-friendly edit of the song.
Typically:
Shorter (often 3 minutes)
Clean lyrics (no explicit language)
Faster intro / earlier chorus
Extended
A longer version of the song than the original.
Usually includes:
Longer intros/outros
Extended breakdowns
More space for DJs to mix
Demo
A rough or early version of the song.
Often recorded to:
Pitch to labels or collaborators
Test arrangements or lyrics
Interesting for fans and archivists
Live
A recording captured during a live performance.
May include:
Crowd noise
Different vocal delivery
Possible improvisation or altered structure
Often labelled with venue or tour name
Remastered
The same recording but sonically different/ changed using mastering techniques. No changes to performance- just clearer, louder, or more balanced sound.
Common reasons:
Anniversary reissues
Moving old recordings to new formats
Remix
A reworked version of the song, often by another producer or DJ.
May include:
New beat or tempo
Rearranged structure
Added or removed vocals
Genre shift
Still based on the original song but creatively transformed
