Primary Artist VS Featured artist - which one is best for me?
Adding an additional primary artist to your track means it will show on their streaming platform profile as *YOUR ARTIST NAME, THEIR ARTIST NAME*. This is how it will appear on both DSP profiles.
A feature will show as *YOUR ARTIST NAME ft THEIR ARTIST NAME* and will show on the features 'appears on' section at the bottom of their profile.
A primary artist collaboration is best fit for 2 or more artists who are equally involved with the creation, funding and promotion of the release. A feature is a better option in a case where the second artist has provided a verse, and is doing minimal promotion around the release.
How do to I add a Featured/Primary artist to my release?
Go to the release upload form and check the tick box for either a primary or a featured artist. You will be able to search for the artists Spotify account in the search bar, select the correct account to add them.
*DO NOT put your primary or featured artist name into the title field of your song as this will cause it to be rejected by Apple*
My Featured/Primary Artist doesn’t have a Spotify account?
If you need to create a feature/primary artist release and the artist doesn't yet have a Spotify profile, please process the track as normal (with no features) and raise a ticket on Zendesk and we will assist you. We can manually add artists who need new profiles, you will need to let us know the artist name they would like to use.
*DISCLAIMER: If your artist does not have a Spotify account and you have to manually put in their name please ensure that the spelling is correctly put into our site AND written on the artwork. This can cause major delays if incorrect*
You are allowed up 4 artists for a regular song and Cover, and 3 artists for a remix.
